We did not have very good luck with CK Builders. Very nice man. He came out to measure, helped us with ordering our countertop, came and started until we realized it didn't fit. Said he would be back when the new countertops came in. Required us to pay half, which was $425.00. When the countertop came in, we could not get in touch with him. He won't return our calls. Have called almost nightly for three weeks and he won't return our calls. Do not recommended unless you are in for a very frustrating experience!
Background: Kyle from CK builders quoted us a job to replace our floors. We are/were expecting a baby, and wanted to update our floors. Kyle was aware of our reasons to update the home. We were on a budget of $5000 for materials and labor. We worked out a contract where we would remove some of the old flooring and carpet, to help reduce our costs. He was fine with it, and offered advice throughout the project. We are now a few weeks after the flooring install is completed, but there are a few things still not finished. Our closet doors slide open, there are guides, or tracks that keep them from swinging when you open them. Kyle had to order new tracks. No big deal, but that was 3 weeks ago. We heard from him once to setup a time to install them, but he never showed, never called, never installed them. He has not returned our phone calls or email. ___Pros___: Very kind, very nice person, Good prices on labor & materials (Kyle gave us 3 boxers of slate tile for our entry way at no charge), Fair work quality - The transitions between carpet and hardwood floors are the cheap metal type, Will work with a budget, His employees are on time and polite, Everyone was kind and considerate to our pets also. ___Cons___: Maybe too friendly with the pets at times, we ended up putting out pets in another room so not to disturb them while working. Owner (Kyle) is not punctual. Often he would show up an hour or more AFTER the time he said he would be here. Communication has been MINIMAL since we paid him, project is NOT finished. Project took longer than scheduled. Never received a receipt of payment from CK Builders as promised. Thankfully we wrote one out and had him sign it before he left. Havent seen him since. ----------Nearing the end of the project, we started to hear that if we wanted Kyle to do things, related to the job, it would cost us extra. For example, we were told it would cost us an extra $300 for Kyle to purchase and install baseboards. This seemed strange because it was never mentioned previously, and we understood that to be a part of the project. If you remove baseboard for a project, doesnt it make sense that the builder would replace it once the floors are done? If it was something extra, why didnt we know about it before? All in all, we were just slightly over our budget, the project took longer than scheduled, and its not 100% complete.
