I don't live in the area, but I am telling my local friends: STAY AWAY
The instructor wasn't practicing with the class, was smirking if someone couldn't do a pose, and was yelling almost the entire time: she felt like a drill sergeant.
Great staff!!! Great place to practice if you want a quick break from your normal routine. Remember, breathing properly is your top priority, everything else follows.
Bad:
Love this place so much! I live 40 minutes away, (without traffic) but still try and make it once a week for a class. The staff are extremely friendly and the classes will blow your mind!
The hot yoga class wasn't a yoga class, it was an 80 minute HIIT/bootcamp class in 105 degree heat.
My favorite and only go to place for hot yoga. All staff are friendly. Every time I bring someone new the staff make them feel welcome and help them during the practice. They're so sweet and inspirational and the vibe is AMAZING.
Good: Very clean facility, and friendly front desk staff. Showers on-site.
I've only been here for one class (hot yoga), and it will be my last.
Would recommend 10/10!!
I've been here about six weeks and love it. Friendly staff. Clean & comfortable. Most classes have plenty of room--only encountered one where I felt crowded. I appreciated the intro rate so I could experience if for a month without a costly commitment. I'm also glad it's not "Hot Yoga" but don't be fooled. You work & sweat--depending on which class you choose to attend. And there are many choices ranging from a peaceful Restorative session, to Gentle, Flow and beyond. What I really love about Joy Yoga is the instructors. I have many years of bad health club Yoga to undo. You know the kind...where the instructors practice in front of you but don't correct your postures or offer suggestions on how to help your particular body can accomplish the pose. These folks are (respectfully) hands on and help you do your best.
No diversity: you won't feel welcome unless you are a fit, 25 year old, rich white girl.
EXPENSIVE, and this is coming from someone who does yoga in Ann Arbor.
CHAOTIC atmosphere: the instructor was constantly changing the lighting, changing the volume (quiet to BLARING), changing the temperature of the room, and changing music styles (top 40s, to peaceful acoustic, etc).
